Technical Sessions
The technical program will focus on the themes listed below in the region covered by the
Rocky Mountain Section. Two or three oral sessions will run concurrently on Monday and
Tuesday, morning and afternoon, as well as Wednesday morning. One or two poster
sessions per day will also be scheduled. The meeting will conclude on Wednesday at noon.
Abstract deadline has been extended to February 15, 2010. Click here to go to Abstract Submission.
Presenters at the Durango meeting are encouraged to submit their research for possible
publication in the New Mexico Geological Society’s 2010 Fall Field Conference Guidebook
that will focus on the geology of the Four Corners area. The deadline for manuscript
submittal for that meeting is March 1, 2010.

Information for Presenters
All presenters are required to register for the meeting.
Poster Presenters:
Please review this information:
- Poster presentations will either be held on the second floor of the College Union Building, in the Colorado Room (SU 211) adjacent to the Exhibitor booths, or in Noble Hall classrooms 110 and 160.
- Poster presenters are expected to be in their booths for two hours and are encouraged to be present during the late afternoon Happy Hour.
- More information will be sent out regarding booth dimensions and preferred mounting materials.
- If you need electrical power, or have any questions, please contact the Technical Session Chairs as outlets are only available at the ends of the room. (Contact Gary Gianniny at gianniny_g@fortlewis.edu or Steve Hayden at steven.hayden@state.nm.us ).
Oral Presenters:
Please review the following information:
- Oral presentations will be held in either Noble Hall 130, 125 or the Center for Southwest Studies Lyceum (Rm. 120).
- Talks are scheduled for 20 minute slots (unless otherwise noted by the session chairs). Each speaker will have 18 minutes to speak, leaving time for questions and changing speakers.
- All presentations must be in Microsoft Powerpoint. Versions 1997-2003 (.ppt) or 2007 (.pptx) are all acceptable. Powerpoint 2007 is used on all campus computers.
- No slides / no slide projectors.
- There will be only one screen per room.
- You will need to save your PowerPoint file to an external drive or CD/DVD-ROM before you can transfer it onto the college’s network.
- Noble Hall 120 will be used as a Speaker Ready Room to download powerpoint files to the campus server and make sure they work.
- Your talk will be available in your session room via the networked classroom computers and digital projection system.
- All computers in the oral presentation rooms have Windows-based PCs. MacIntosh users should confirm that their PowerPoint presentation is complete and works properly on a PC before their talk.
- Download your talk at least a half-day prior to your session.
- Speakers will not be allowed to download software to the Fort Lewis College server.
