Transportation

Durango is served by a major regional airport for southwestern Colorado, the Durango-LaPlata County Airport. Currently Lynx Aviation (Frontier Airlines), United Express (United Airlines) and U.S. Airways schedule flights there. Transportation to and from the airport is provided by Durango Transportation by reservation only (970-259-4818) at a rate of: $30 for 1 person, $20 for second person in same party, $15 for third through fifth people in same party. If six or more people are arriving at the same time they will offer a charter rate. Please view their website (www.durangotransportation.net/) for more information.

Because lodging is in the town of Durango, while the convention is about a half-mile away (and uphill) at Fort Lewis College, transportation to and from the convention will be necessary. Private cars are easily accommodated in town and on campus during the summer. Shuttle busses will also be running from (most) convention hotels, and the Durango Transit Center at 250 W 8th Street, to the college.

Shuttle Bus Schedule

Day Start Service Stop Service
Sunday, June 13 2:30p.m. 7:30p.m.
Monday, June 14 7:00a.m. 7:00p.m.
Tuesday, June 14 7:00a.m. 7:00p.m.
Wednesday, June 15 7:00a.m. 1:00p.m.

Public transportation is also available to the college on the Durango "T". Durango "T" route maps will be included in registration materials. For a preview, go to www.getarounddurango.com/downloads/Durango-T-Map.pdf.

Convention Lodging

Thirteen hotels and motels offer blocked rooms for the AAPG-RMS 2010 meeting at a range of prices. All but two of these (the Best Western Inn & Suites on highway 160 and the Super 8 in Bodo) are on shuttle bus routes from the town to the college. If you will need transportation to and from the meeting, please choose lodging on a shuttle bus route.
